Houston is starting Sunday under cloudy skies with temperatures around 77 degrees, and scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to keep the day unsettled. The high should reach about 82, with northeast winds near 10 mph and gusts up to 25 mph.
Storm Chances Peak Into Sunday Morning
Showers and thunderstorms could develop before 7 a.m., briefly ease, then return in scattered fashion through the day. The National Weather Service Houston/Galveston says some of the heavier activity may move ashore near the coast, where higher-than-normal tides could make localized flooding more likely; the agency’s forecast discussion also warns of gusty conditions near storms.
Sunday’s overall rain chance is around 40%, so this is more likely to be an on-and-off umbrella day than a nonstop washout. Coastal residents and anyone heading toward the beaches should also note the high rip-current risk through Monday afternoon, while boaters in the Gulf face a Small Craft Advisory.
Compared with Hoodline’s Saturday forecast, the latest outlook is less wet for Houston proper but still leaves the coast and bays with the more active storm risk.
Sunny, Drier Air Takes Over Monday
Monday brings a sharp reset: sunny skies, a high near 86 degrees and a low around 73. Humidity should drop, and Tuesday and Wednesday look mostly sunny with highs near 87 and 89, respectively, giving Houston a brief taste of easier fall weather before the heat tries to make a comeback.
Rain Chances Creep Back Late Week
The dry stretch does not last forever. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms returns Thursday afternoon, with rain chances rising to about 30% Friday and Saturday as humidity builds again across the region.
