New York City started Sunday clear and near 42 degrees, with a bright but cool afternoon ahead. The city should reach about 58 degrees under full sunshine, making for a strong outdoor window before northeast winds strengthen during the middle of the week.
Sunny Sunday, Chilly Again After Dark
North winds around 6 to 10 mph will ease somewhat as temperatures climb through the 40s and 50s. Sunday night should stay mostly clear, with temperatures falling to around 47 degrees and no rain expected, according to the National Weather Service.
Monday Brings More Sun Before The Wind Picks Up
Monday will remain mostly sunny with a high in the lower 60s, with northeast winds near 10 mph. Monday night turns mostly cloudy.
Midweek Stays Mostly Dry But Gets Breezy
Tuesday is expected to be mostly sunny and near 65 degrees, followed by another sunny day Wednesday with a high around 61. The tradeoff is stronger north to northeast wind, especially near the coast, so waterfront walks and bike rides may feel colder than the thermometer suggests.
A Small Shower Chance Arrives Late Wednesday
Wednesday night and early Thursday morning should remain clear and dry. Thursday should turn mostly sunny after that, reaching about 64 degrees, while Friday and Saturday stay sunny with highs near 61 and 60.
The broader pattern features a slow-moving low pressure system passing offshore, keeping coastal conditions unsettled even as New York City stays largely dry on land. For now, the forecast is less about a washout than a familiar fall tradeoff: plenty of sunshine, cooler nights and increasingly noticeable wind.
