Jacksonville should see mostly clear and sunny conditions Tuesday, with a high near 74. Inland, north winds will be about 10 to 15 mph; along the coast, they will be 15 to 25 mph.
The bigger concern is along the beaches and waterways, where coastal hazards remain in place. A coastal flood advisory covers parts of coastal Duval County through early Thursday, while the high surf advisory for northeast Florida beaches was to be dropped Tuesday morning, October 20, and the risk of dangerous rip currents was extended through Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service Jacksonville.
Sunny And Comfortable Through Thursday
Tuesday night will be clear, with temperatures falling to around 58 degrees and northeast winds easing to 5 to 10 mph inland and 10 to 15 mph along the coast. Wednesday should be sunny with a high near 78, followed by another clear night and a low near 57.
Thursday stays sunny and mild, topping out near 76 degrees, while overnight temperatures settle around 58. Rain is not expected through Thursday, making the middle of the week the easiest stretch for outdoor plans.
Beachgoers Face Rough Surf And Rip Currents
The coastal advisories call for breaking waves of 5 to 7 feet, dangerous rip currents and localized beach erosion. Minor flooding may affect low-lying lots, parks and roads near high tide, so drivers should not go around barricades or enter water of unknown depth.
Anyone heading into the surf should stay near a lifeguard, and inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water. If caught in a rip current, float, avoid swimming directly against it and move parallel to shore when possible.
Wind And Shower Chances Rise This Weekend
Shower chances are forecast along coastal locations this weekend, with highs around 72 to 76 degrees.
Monday looks mostly sunny with only a slight chance of showers and a high near 74. Coastal flooding and beach impacts could become more significant over the weekend as stronger onshore winds combine with higher tides.
