Norfolk is waking Wednesday to clear skies and temperatures in the upper 50s, with sunny weather expected through the afternoon. The bigger concern is along the water, where coastal flooding could affect low-lying areas through early Friday.
Sunny, Breezy Wednesday
Temperatures will climb to around 65 degrees Wednesday under dry, sunny skies. North winds of 13 to 17 mph may gust as high as 26 mph, making it feel noticeably brisk near the waterfront.
Coastal Flooding Remains The Main Concern
A Coastal Flood Advisory covers Norfolk and nearby communities through 2 a.m. Friday, according to the National Weather Service in Wakefield. Up to a foot of water could cover vulnerable areas near shorelines and tidal waterways, including some low-lying roads, parking lots, parks and lawns.
Residents heading near the waterfront should allow extra travel time and avoid driving around barricades or through water of unknown depth. The advisory is tied to repeated elevated tides, so flooding may return with multiple high-tide cycles even while the broader weather stays sunny.
Cooler Friday Before Temperatures Rebound
Thursday will remain sunny with a high near 68 degrees, followed by a cooler Friday and Saturday with highs around 61 and 62. Sunday and Monday moderate to the mid and upper 60s, with another sunny day and a high near 69 expected Tuesday.
