Providence is starting Monday, October 19, with clear skies and chilly temperatures in the upper 30s before a sunny afternoon reaches about 61 degrees. The dry, comfortable start gives way to a cloudier night and a noticeably windier stretch by Tuesday.
The National Weather Service Boston/Norton office expects northeast winds of 3 to 8 mph Monday, with no rain expected in Providence. Clouds increase Monday night as temperatures fall to around 43 degrees.
Sunny Monday, Stronger Winds Tuesday
Tuesday, October 20, will be partly sunny with a high near 62 degrees, but north winds will run 10 to 14 mph and could gust to 25 mph. That combination should make the day feel sharper, especially in exposed areas and along the waterfront.
Cooler Midweek With A Brief Shower Chance
Wednesday, October 21, turns cooler with a high near 57 degrees and northeast winds of 13 to 16 mph. A slight chance of rain showers arrives after 10 p.m., followed by another small shower chance before 7 a.m. Thursday; Thursday afternoon should otherwise become mostly sunny with a high near 63.
Friday brings another sunny but cool day near 57 degrees, with temperatures dipping to about 37 overnight. The weekend looks brighter and milder, with a sunny high near 58 on Saturday and around 64 on Sunday.
Rougher Conditions Near The Coast
The more serious weather impacts are expected over the water rather than in Providence itself. The National Weather Service has issued a Gale Warning for southern coastal waters from 8 p.m. Monday through 8 p.m. Wednesday, with rough seas and strong winds possible for boaters and coastal travelers.
