Detroit-area residents are waking to clear skies and temperatures near 39 degrees Sunday morning, with a frost advisory continuing until 8 a.m. The day will turn sunny and mild, reaching the low 60s while southwest winds add a noticeable breeze.
Afternoon Winds Pick Up
The National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac expects southwest winds of 6 to 12 mph Sunday, with gusts reaching 22 mph, according to the National Weather Service. Rain is not expected, making for comfortable conditions for errands, outdoor plans and a late-season walk—assuming the wind does not get too ambitious.
The frost advisory covers much of southeast Michigan, including Wayne County, because temperatures dipped into the lower and middle 30s in some areas overnight. Tender plants may need protection, with heavier frost more likely outside metro Detroit and toward the Ohio border.
Mild Weather Holds Through The Week
Detroit should stay dry and mostly sunny through Friday, with highs near 68 degrees Monday, 66 Tuesday, 67 Wednesday, 69 Thursday and 66 Friday.
Overnight lows will generally stay in the low to upper 40s after Sunday night, so the week will bring crisp mornings but unusually pleasant afternoons for late October. The period is expected to stay dry overall.
