Charleston is starting Friday, October 30, under dense fog, with visibility near a quarter-mile in some spots before the clouds lift and sunshine takes over. The fog should fade before 11 a.m., setting up a warm afternoon with a high near 78 degrees.
Fog And Coastal Flooding Complicate Friday Morning
According to the National Weather Service Charleston forecast, a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect through 10 a.m. for Charleston and nearby counties. Smoke from prescribed burns could mix with the fog and create isolated areas of “super fog,” where visibility may drop close to zero.
Drivers should slow down, use headlights and leave extra room between vehicles. A separate Coastal Flood Advisory runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with up to 6 inches of water possible along some shorelines and tidal waterways around high tide, expected near 11:53 a.m.
Halloween Weekend Turns Breezier
Saturday, October 31, should be partly sunny with a high near 74, but northeast winds will increase to 17 mph with gusts up to 25 mph. Saturday night will turn cloudy, with a low around 61 and gusts reaching 24 mph, though rain is not expected.
Sunday stays mostly cloudy and breezy with a high near 73 and only a slight chance of rain. A few showers become possible Monday morning, while the next better chance for unsettled weather arrives Wednesday and Thursday, when rain showers and a few thunderstorms could enter the forecast.
