Dirt bikes and roaring engines are headed to M&T Bank Stadium next spring, as Monster Energy's SMX World Championship announced it will hold a Supercross race in Baltimore on April 10, 2027. It's the first Supercross event ever held in Baltimore city, and the first anywhere in the Washington, D.C., region since 1983.
The announcement came together at an October 1 press conference inside the stadium, where organizers introduced the race alongside national racer Benny Bloss and two local Maryland riders, Justin Rodbell of Prince Frederick and Max Sanford of Pasadena, according to WBAL-TV. Baltimore will serve as Round 13 of the 17-race 2027 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship, a stadium-based series that forms the regular-season backbone of the larger 28-round SuperMotocross World Championship, as reported by Motocross. That broader championship pairs the indoor stadium Supercross season with an outdoor Pro Motocross summer slate before a three-round playoff in September, per the same outlet.
For Sanford, the hometown stop carries personal weight. “This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” he said, noting that many family members and friends have never seen him ride or compete on a world stage, per WBAL-TV's report. The station's producer, Hannah Hoffman, noted the race sits inside a 17-stop season that touches 16 cities across 13 states.
Ending a 44-Year Wait Since RFK Stadium
The last time stadium Supercross came anywhere near the DMV was May 1983, when a race was held at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C.
Stadium Supercross — the sport's biggest spectacle — had never touched down in Baltimore until now.
One of Just Two New Stops on the 2027 Tour
Baltimore's addition is notable beyond the region: M&T Bank Stadium and San Antonio's Alamodome are the only two brand-new venues added to the 17-city 2027 schedule, according to MotoOnline. The 2027 slate rotates out several 2026 host cities, including Houston, Birmingham, St. Louis, Cleveland and Nashville. The full season opens January 9, 2027 at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California, and wraps up May 15, 2027 at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City, Utah, per the American Motorcyclist Association.
The timing lines up with a major facelift at M&T Bank Stadium. The venue recently completed a three-year, $489 million modernization in August 2026, upgrading concourses and hospitality spaces as part of a push to draw non-NFL events. That strategy appears to be paying off fast: just one week after Supercross roars through, M&T Bank Stadium will host Monster Jam's return after 13 years on April 17, 2027, per SouthBMore.com.
Tickets and Race-Day Details
Preferred-customer ticket presales for all 2027 Supercross rounds open October 6, 2026 at 10 a.m. ET. On race day in Baltimore, Fan Fest opens at 8 a.m. with the main event starting at 2:30 p.m., according to Monster Energy AMA Supercross. All spectators age 2 and older will need a ticket to attend.
The stadium's back-to-back dirt transformations — Supercross on April 10 followed by Monster Jam just a week later — set up a packed spring for Baltimore motorsports fans, bookending a stretch that organizers hope cements the city's new reputation as a stop worth watching on the national racing calendar.
