A fight in a midtown Tucson business parking lot turned into a shooting Tuesday afternoon, and whoever pulled the trigger is still on the loose. One person was hurt and taken to a hospital. Police say the people involved knew each other.

Officers responded to the area of Stone Avenue and Drachman Street at about 3:30 p.m., according to KVOA. Police said a confrontation in the parking lot escalated to gunfire. One victim was shot and transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Suspect Fled the Scene

The suspect or suspects ran from the area right after the shooting and have not been found. The station's report does not say how many people were involved, and no description of the shooter has been released.

Evidence gathered at the scene indicated the victims and suspects were known to each other before the fight, police said. Investigators also described the shooting as an isolated incident and said there is no active threat to the community. The case number is 2610270168.

One of Several Shootings in Southern Arizona This Month

The shooting was covered in a report KOLD published October 28. The station has reported on seven shootings this month. Anyone with information was asked to call 88-CRIME, where tips can be left anonymously.

This isn't the first time gunfire has rattled the Stone and Drachman corridor. In April 2024, a man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after a shooting in the 200 block of West Lee Street, near the same intersection, KOLD reported at the time. In that case, detectives identified 36-year-old Richard A. Montoya as the suspect and arrested him later that night. This week's suspect or suspects have not been located.
