Swingers plans to open Tuesday, October 20, at 3200 West Sunset Boulevard, in the Silver Lake space formerly occupied by All Day Baby. The 1993 Los Angeles diner will start with takeout from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. that night, then serve from 6 p.m. to 3 a.m. beginning Wednesday. The full dining room is expected to open in December, with planned hours of 8 a.m. to 3 a.m., Eater LA reported.
One storefront, several restaurant chapters
All Day Baby operated at the corner for five years before closing in December. Its owner, Lien Ta, told the Los Angeles Times that the restaurant did not bring in enough money day to day to sustain operations. Heavy Handed followed, opening there in March 2025 and closing in spring 2026, according to Eater LA. Those accounts describe this address; they do not establish why Heavy Handed closed or explain other restaurants’ circumstances.
A separate Los Angeles example offers a point of comparison, not a direct parallel: in 2021, Clark Street Bread founder Zach Hall revived Hollywood’s former 101 Coffee Shop space as Clark Street Diner, the Los Angeles Times reported. The Hollywood diner and Swingers’ Silver Lake opening involve different operators, locations and histories.
For a broader, but limited, look at late-night dining, LAist’s 2025 guide said nearly 100 restaurants from its 2019 guide had closed, while new places had opened in their stead. That is a comparison of the guide’s listings, not a count of every Los Angeles restaurant or evidence about Swingers’ prospects.
Swingers’ return to the neighborhood
The Silver Lake opening is Swingers’ first Eastside location. The diner’s Beverly Boulevard restaurant announced a permanent closure in April 2020, then reopened that November under owner Stephanie Wilson, according to Eater LA’s 2020 report. Wilson had worked at the business before taking ownership, the outlet reported; the new location brings the long-running diner to a corner with a recent succession of tenants.
Eater LA reports that the Silver Lake menu is planned to mirror the Beverly Boulevard location and that the room is being designed with plaid booths, mosaic tile and wood paneling. Location-specific specials are still in development; Wilson has also expressed hope for a dish honoring Jonathan Whitener, the late chef behind All Day Baby. Those plans do not make Swingers a continuation of its predecessor, whose owner gave a separate account of why it closed.
