Tattoo Mania returns to Dallas October 16–18, bringing 50 tattoo artists to Four Corners Brewing Co. for a three-day convention. The lineup includes artists from Germany, the United Kingdom, Mexico and Canada, and visitors can arrange appointments or ask about same-day walk-ups, according to the Dallas Observer. The event website says this year’s roster is complete; it does not list ticket prices in the information cited here.
A temporary event, a statewide rule
The convention’s three-day format puts it in the broader category of short-term tattooing events addressed by Texas health rules. The Texas Department of State Health Services says temporary locations where tattooing or body piercing takes place for no more than seven days in conjunction with a single event must be licensed by the department. That general requirement does not establish Tattoo Mania’s permit or compliance status; the event details cited here do not resolve that question.
Tattoo Mania was founded by Philip LaRocca, owner of Oak Cliff’s Salvation Tattoo. The Observer reports that LaRocca curates the guest roster and has said Dallas still has room to develop as a destination for tattooing. The convention takes a different approach from a locally focused showcase: Dallas-based artists are not tattooing at the event, according to the Observer, while the visiting lineup covers styles including American traditional, fine line and traditional Japanese.
A different format in its second year
The first Tattoo Mania, held in 2025, paired tattooing with a concert. This year, organizers have replaced the concert with an art show featuring local artists’ work, the Observer reports. The event therefore brings visiting tattooers together while giving the surrounding program a local-art component.
Day passes are on sale, and the event site advises people seeking a particular artist to contact that artist about an appointment. Walk-ups may be possible if an artist has availability, the Observer reports. The convention runs October 16–18 at Four Corners Brewing Co. in Dallas.
