A Texas man was taken into custody in Wagoner County, Oklahoma, after authorities say he tried to solicit a 14-year-old decoy for sex and arranged to meet the decoy at a local convenience store. Wagoner County authorities identified the man as Coleman Rogers, who they say is from Fort Worth.
According to WOAI, investigators were notified that a man was contacting a decoy posing as a 14-year-old girl for sex. Officials say the suspect spoke with the decoy for a short time before the conversation turned sexual, then asked to meet in person. The two agreed to meet at a convenience store in Wagoner County, where Rogers was arrested. He now faces complaints of facilitating sexual conduct with a minor and lewd or indecent proposals to a child, authorities said.
A Monthslong Undercover Push
The arrest traces back to September, when the Wagoner County Sheriff's Office partnered with Safe from Online Sex Abuse, a nonprofit organization that works to identify people suspected of online child sexual abuse, the station's report notes. The group, known as SOSA, says on its website that it works directly with Internet Crimes Against Children task forces to help law enforcement create decoys, communicate with adults who contact minors online, identify perpetrators, and compile evidence for prosecution.
Wagoner County Sheriff Chris Elliott said children deserve to grow up safe, protected, and free from those attempting to exploit them. Elliott said keeping children safe requires the whole community, and he encouraged parents to talk openly with their children about online safety, know who their kids are communicating with, and report any concerns.
Other Recent Arrests In The County
Rogers's case is not an isolated one in Wagoner County this month. Deputies arrested Austin R. Alexander of Collinsville on October 19 after he allegedly agreed to meet a decoy posing as a 14-year-old, traveling from the Collinsville area to a Wagoner County convenience store where he was taken into custody, according to News On 6. A day earlier, two other suspects, Julie Arnold and Joseph Hunt, were arrested after allegedly having an explicit conversation with an undercover decoy who identified as 14 years old, KRMG reported. Arnold and Hunt were charged with lewd or indecent proposals or acts to a child and facilitating sexual conduct with a minor, and bonds for both were set at $100,000.
Scope Of The Broader Investigation Unclear
The total number of people caught up in Wagoner County's undercover efforts is murky, with different outlets reporting different figures. News On 6 reported that the sheriff's office arrested eight men from Oklahoma, Arkansas and Missouri following a months-long undercover sting, and said no actual children were involved in the operation. Separately, Radio Oklahoma News reported that 18 people were arrested during a months-long undercover investigation that began in May 2026 and involved investigators posing as underage girls on social media and messaging platforms. That report noted some suspects traveled several hours to meet people they believed were 14- or 15-year-old girls. It is not established whether these two tallies describe the same investigation, different phases of it, or separate reporting periods.
Oklahoma law, per legislative text filed with the Oklahoma Legislature, describes a lewd or indecent proposal to a child under 16, or to another person the speaker believes is under 16, for unlawful sexual relations or sexual intercourse as a crime. Details of how the statute applies specifically to Rogers's case, including any bond, plea, or court proceedings, have not been reported.
