A Honda Accord driver was pinned Thursday morning after running a stop sign, triggering a three-vehicle collision at Lincoln Avenue and McMullin Grade in southwest Fresno County and sending two people to the hospital with major injuries.

The California Highway Patrol responded to the crash call around 6:40 a.m., according to KMPH Fox 26. Investigators say a driver in a Honda Accord ran a stop sign while traveling westbound on Lincoln Avenue, setting off a chain-reaction collision at the rural intersection.

The Accord was then struck by a Honda CRV traveling north on McMullin Grade, the station reports. A Dodge Ram heading south on McMullin Grade then hit both the CRV and the Accord.

Driver Pinned, Extricated From Wreckage

The force of the collisions left the Accord's driver pinned inside the vehicle. The driver was later extricated, per the same account. Two people in total were taken to the hospital with major injuries, while the driver of the Dodge Ram had no reported injuries.

The crash remained under investigation as of Thursday morning, and no further details on the extent of the injuries or any citations have been released.

A Stretch of Road With a History

McMullin Grade has seen serious wrecks before. In July 2023, a woman died in a crash involving a semi-truck at McMullin Grade and Manning Avenue, according to ABC30 Fresno.

More broadly, speeding-related fatality rates are a concern in Fresno County. Thursday's crash remains under investigation, and it has not been determined what factors, if any, contributed beyond the reported stop-sign violation.
