Three men implied they were armed, robbed two people and repeatedly struck one of them before disappearing on Townsend Avenue in Brooklyn Park Tuesday night. Anne Arundel County police say officers never found them, even after searching the immediate area.

According to FOX45 News, officers responded at 7:55 p.m. Tuesday to the 100 block of Townsend Avenue after two people reported they had just been robbed. Police said three suspects implied they had a weapon, robbed the pair, and repeatedly struck one of the victims before fleeing the scene.

Responding officers checked the area but did not locate the suspects, the station reported. The Northern District Detective Unit has taken over the investigation, though no arrests, charges or warrants have been announced in connection with the case.

Who Police Are Looking For

Investigators described the suspects as two Black men and one white man, all believed to be in their 20s and wearing dark clothing at the time of the attack, per the same account. Beyond that general description, authorities have not released names, photos or any vehicle information tied to the trio.

Anyone with information is asked to call 410-222-6135 or submit an anonymous tip to the Anne Arundel County Police Tip Line at 410-222-4700.

Not the First Robbery on This Block

Tuesday's attack isn't the first time Townsend Avenue has drawn police attention. On October 31, 2024, officers responded to the same 100 block for a reported robbery in which an unidentified male suspect forcibly grabbed an 18-year-old victim's arm and took her purse before fleeing on foot, according to a Anne Arundel County Government press release. That victim's phone was later recovered a few blocks away, but the rest of her purse's contents were still missing at the time of the release.

In a separate incident, a 44-year-old man was approached in an alley near Brookwood Road and Southerly Drive at around 9:30 p.m. on April 28 and was stabbed with an unknown sharp object after handing over his wallet, FOX45 News reported. That victim was treated at Harbor Hospital for a non-life-threatening torso injury.

County-Wide Robbery Numbers Trending Down

The Townsend Avenue robberies stand out against a broader countywide trend. In year-to-date figures reported August 13, 2025, TheBayNet said robberies of citizens fell 46% and commercial robberies dropped 50%. The county also reported that homicides decreased 14% and non-contact shootings fell 42% over the same year-to-date period, alongside a 28% drop in stolen autos and a 27% reduction in thefts from vehicles.

Those figures don't erase the fear left behind on Townsend Avenue this week. For now, detectives are still working to identify the three men who fled into the night, and residents are left waiting for answers about who struck their neighbor and why.
