Timbaland is heading back to the streets that raised him, and this time he is bringing a tech-and-talent festival with him. The Grammy-winning producer, born Timothy Mosley, returns to Virginia Beach this weekend for CreatorVerse, a multi-day event built around music, artificial intelligence, content creation and entrepreneurship for the region's young creatives.

The homecoming follows last year's unveiling of Timbaland Way, the honorary name Virginia Beach gave to Bridle Creek Boulevard to recognize Mosley's global impact on music, according to The Virginian-Pilot. The city held a three-day Timbaland Way Weekend to mark the new street signs, the Pilot's report notes.

During that inaugural weekend, Timbaland visited his former schools, Salem High School, Salem Middle School and College Park Elementary, and was given a key to the city. A student pep rally at Salem High School, where Mosley graduated, welcomed the producer back. The celebration also highlighted other local producers: the city issued proclamations honoring Hannon, Bink, Nottz and Danja as part of the festivities.

CreatorVerse Lands at Batten University This Weekend

This year's event centers on CreatorVerse, which the Pilot describes as a festival focused on youth creativity, offering both free and ticketed programming. The centerpiece is the CreatorVerse Technology and Talent Exposition, running from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday at Batten University's Innovation Lawn, per the Pilot's reporting. The free expo features technology exhibits, interactive tech and gaming experiences, local vendors, food trucks and live entertainment, though registration is required.

A 90s Night at the Art Museum

The evening event at the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art, titled Inside the Music, a 90s Experience, runs from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and opens with Timbaland discussing his music before a DJ takes over to spin records, per the same report. General admission is $50. The weekend wraps Sunday with an invite-only brunch.

Timbaland's Songwriters Hall of Fame Induction

Timbaland was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in June 2024 alongside fellow honorees including Hillary Lindsey and the band R.E.M., according to the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Part of a Broader Hampton Roads Tradition

Virginia Beach's street-naming tribute to Timbaland is not an isolated gesture. Neighboring Portsmouth voted to rename a street in Missy Elliott's honor and planned a celebration, according to 13News Now.
