The Titusville YMCA Family Center is throwing open its pool gates on October 31 to celebrate something North Brevard swimmers haven't had in more than two decades: a heated pool they can use every month of the year. The celebration at 2400 Harrison Street runs from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., marking the debut of a brand-new pool heater that organizers say will keep the water comfortable no matter the season.
According to Space Coast Daily, the recently installed heater means swimmers can now enjoy the water comfortably during every season of the year, a shift from the outdoor pool's previous seasonal schedule. The Titusville Y offers that outdoor pool for lap swimming, swim lessons and recreation, according to the YMCA of Central Florida's Titusville location page, which also notes the branch's lineup of life-saving swim lessons and active older adult fitness programming.
Behind the upgrade is a donation from Sally Phillips, who gave $90,000 to the YMCA of Central Florida in late 2024. Of that gift, $80,000 went directly toward adding a pool heater at the Titusville YMCA Family Center, while the remaining $10,000 funded a free Alzheimer's community chair fitness class, as reported by Florida Today.
From Seasonal Splashes to Year-Round Swims
Florida Today's report explains that Phillips's donation will allow the YMCA to heat its pool, converting it from a seasonal pool to one that can be used year-round. That shift, Dara Sunseri said, will make it possible to expand programming for all populations, including swim lessons, family activities and programs for people living with Alzheimer's and their caregivers — a detail that ties the heater upgrade directly back to the dementia-focused fitness class her gift also helped fund.
Community Partners Cheer the Milestone
The Space Coast Daily announcement of the October 31 celebration was sponsored by Erdman Automotive and Craig Technologies, underscoring the local business support behind the event. Space Coast Daily's piece frames the heater installation as a community milestone for the Harrison Street facility, which has operated in North Brevard for years as a hub for swim instruction and family recreation.
A Bigger Push for Fitness Access in Titusville
The pool heater arrives as the YMCA of Central Florida pursues a broader expansion of health services in the area. The organization and Parrish Healthcare announced a partnership to expand access to preventative health services, rehabilitation and fitness services in Brevard County, according to Parrish Healthcare. Under that arrangement, the YMCA will manage daily operations of the services at a remodeled fitness center, while Parrish Healthcare maintains an integrated clinic presence there.
Talk of Titusville reported that the remodeled Parrish Health & Fitness Center on Cheney Highway, which Parrish Healthcare will continue to own, was expected to reopen in early 2026 and be included with current YMCA memberships. Parrish Healthcare's own announcement lists the facility's address as 2200 Cheney Highway, while Talk of Titusville's report cites 2210 Cheney Highway — the two accounts differ on the exact street number. Parrish Healthcare also notes that renovations there include a planned reopening of the facility's indoor pool in 2027, giving Titusville families another swimming option down the line.
For now, the focus is on Harrison Street, where the October 31 event gives the community its first look at a pool that, after a $90,000 push led by one donor's gift, no longer has to close down when the weather turns cool.
