Child Flown to Houston, Woman and Suspect Treated Locally
The child was later flown by medical helicopter to a Houston-area hospital and was in stable condition, KFDM reported. The woman was also stable, while the man was in critical condition, according to the station. 12newsnow.com also reported that the toddler was airlifted to a Houston hospital.
Officials have not released details about the nature of the injuries.
Two Officers on Leave as Multiple Agencies Investigate
Two Beaumont police officers have been placed on paid administrative leave, which is standard department protocol following an officer-involved shooting, the department said. Detectives with the Beaumont Police Department's Persons Unit, along with BPD Internal Affairs, the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office and the Texas Rangers are investigating the shooting, per the same report.
Beaumont police have described the case as an active investigation and said they will release more information as it becomes available. Officials have not said what led officers to engage the armed man, whether he fired at them, or who fired the shots that struck the child and the woman.
Texas Rangers’ role and a separate Beaumont case
The Texas Department of Public Safety lists officer-involved-shooting investigations among the Texas Rangers’ responsibilities; that general role does not indicate what investigators have concluded in this case. In a separate incident, 12NewsNow reported that a 46-year-old man was fatally shot after firing at officers near Beaumont’s Seventh Street and Interstate 10 on Dec. 12, 2025. That shooting was distinct from the incident near Concord Road and Redwood Drive.
