A Toronto-born Mexican restaurant brand is crossing the border for the first time, with Silent H preparing to open its debut U.S. location in Manhattan's Meatpacking District. The restaurant plans to open on Nov. 24, 2026, bringing chef Gerardo Álvarez Saucedo's regional Mexican cooking and a dining room to a neighborhood already packed with restaurants and nightlife.
Silent H's website places the new restaurant at 420 West 13th Street, describing it as opening soon in NYC's Meatpacking District, according to silenthnyc.com. A separate report from BlogTO lists the address as 420 W. 14th St., so the exact cross street remains unsettled between the two accounts. BlogTO also reports the Nov. 24 opening date, noting it lands the restaurant between the West Village and Chelsea.
The expansion marks Silent H's first move outside Canada since brothers Patrick and Nader Marzouk founded the brand in Toronto in June 2023, according to a release carried by EIN Presswire. Patrick Marzouk serves as founder and CEO, with Nader Marzouk as co-founder, and the pair are described by BlogTO as leading the brand's international expansion. Patrick Marzouk said in the release that Silent H was built in Toronto with a vision to go beyond dining, celebrate exceptional food and culture, and bring people together, adding that bringing Silent H to New York is a defining moment for the company.
A Menu Rooted in Monterrey and Street Food
At the New York location, the kitchen will serve modern Mexican cuisine inspired by Mexico's street flavors and Monterrey's gastronomic heritage, per the EIN Presswire release. The menu will reportedly feature regional recipes built for sharing, according to silenthnyc.com, including a signature dish of espadas de rib eye asadas presented tableside. Álvarez Saucedo already has a track record with shareable Mexican plates at the brand's original Toronto restaurant on King Street West, where his menu includes aguachile, rib-eye skewers, tuna tostadas, carnitas-filled flautas and a whole grilled Cornish hen, as detailed by Toronto Life.
Beverage Director Spencer Gooderham, who built the Toronto location's cocktail list, will also oversee the New York drink program, per BlogTO's reporting. The New York cocktail menu is set to include Oaxaca's Order, made with coconut-washed Patrón Añejo served above smoldering mesquite coals, and Seeking Cenotes, a layered matcha cocktail paired with a palo santo aromatherapy ritual, according to the EIN Presswire release. In Toronto, Gooderham's program already runs 15 signature cocktails and a house shot, Toronto Life reports.
Tequila Lounge Opens Next Door
Silent H's New York expansion will come with a companion bar: Aitch, a tequila and mezcal lounge set to operate next door at 418 West 13th Street, according to silenthnyc.com. The pairing echoes the brand's original setup in Toronto, where Silent H operates alongside its own tequila lounge at 461 King Street West, per Toronto Life.
Manhattan Community Board 2's agenda included Silent H's liquor-license application. The proposed ground-floor restaurant is planned with 42 tables seating 130 guests, 24 high-top seats and a 20-seat bar, for a total capacity of 174 people.
For now, Silent H's arrival adds another high-volume dining concept to a stretch of the Meatpacking District already dense with bars and restaurants, with the brand describing broader plans to grow further in the U.S. market.
