Part of a Busy Stretch for Troy Robbery Investigations
The incident near 1st and 112th adds to a string of robbery cases Troy police have worked through this month. Earlier this month, detectives arrested a 15-year-old girl in connection with multiple robberies reported at businesses in downtown Troy, according to CBS 6 Albany. She was charged as a juvenile with an offense that would constitute petit larceny if she were charged as an adult, and detectives said additional charges were anticipated as that investigation progressed.
Other recent cases in the city have involved weapons beyond knives. Police seized a loaded, illegal, privately made firearm from one suspect after a robbery in Lansingburgh, the same report notes, in which a 57-year-old Troy man had prescription pills stolen from him. A 16-year-old in that case was processed as a juvenile, while 22-year-old Reynaldo Moya was arraigned in Troy City Court.
Flare Gun and Armed Robbery Cases Round Out a Difficult Month
In another case this fall, Troy police investigated a robbery involving a flare gun at the Food Circus on 112th Street. The station's report states the suspect used the flare gun on an employee, who sustained minor facial injuries, and police said at the time that they believed only one person was involved and that there was no ongoing danger to residents.
Troy police also arrested 29-year-old Troy resident Xavier Baker in connection with two armed robberies, per the same outlet. Baker was charged with two counts of second-degree robbery and two counts of fourth-degree grand larceny. None of these separate cases have been confirmed as linked to Wednesday's knife-involved robbery near 1st and 112th, and police have not released additional details on the suspect taken into custody this week.
New York's Division of Criminal Justice Services maintains and publishes statewide data on crime incidents, arrests, and case dispositions, though no specific trend figures for Troy or Rensselaer County were made available. As Wednesday's investigation continues, Troy police have not said whether further charges or updates are expected.
