Tucson starts Wednesday, October 28, under clear skies and temperatures near 55 degrees, but afternoon heat will push the city to 87. Light south winds and no rain make for an easy outdoor day before a much wetter pattern takes over at the end of the week.
Two More Warm Days Before The Shift
Wednesday stays sunny with south winds between 2 and 7 mph, while Thursday will be partly sunny with another high near 87. The National Weather Service Tucson office expects dry conditions to hold through Thursday, with rain chances beginning to creep in late Thursday night.
Storms Arrive Friday
Friday marks the sharp turn, with showers and thunderstorms likely, mostly cloudy skies and a high near 79. Stronger storms could bring brief heavy rain, gusty winds or small hail, while Friday night carries a 70% chance of additional showers and thunderstorms.
Saturday should offer a relative lull during the day, topping out near 78 with only a slight chance of showers after 5 p.m. The break may be short-lived: rain chances rise to 90% Saturday night and remain at 90% Sunday, when showers and thunderstorms are expected with a much cooler high near 71.
Flooding Concerns Grow Into Sunday
The local forecast discussion warns that longer periods of rain could send water through normally dry washes, roadway dips and low-water crossings, especially Sunday. Drivers should never cross a flooded road, and residents near washes should be ready for rapidly changing conditions even though no watches, warnings or advisories are currently posted.
Cooler Weather To Start November
Monday brings a slight chance of morning showers before mostly sunny skies return, with a high near 70 and a low around 52. Tuesday looks sunny and warmer at 73, but the weekend storm system will leave Tucson noticeably cooler than the 87-degree readings expected Wednesday and Thursday.
