Two men in their 30s were shot in the ankle and leg Friday night after a white sedan slowed down near a Greenspoint convenience store and gunfire erupted from inside the vehicle. Houston police say officers responding to the call applied tourniquets to both victims before paramedics rushed them to a hospital, and investigators now believe the shooting was targeted.
According to ABC13 Houston, officers were called to the 13300 block of Northborough Drive after a group of men standing outside a store came under fire from the passing sedan. HTX News reported that officers responded around 10:17 p.m. Friday to the block near Rushcreek Drive, where at least four males inside the white four-door sedan fired toward the group. The station reported that first-responding officers applied tourniquets to the two victims, ages 31 and 34, before emergency medical services transported them to a local hospital, where both were listed in stable condition.
Surveillance Footage Under Review as Investigation Continues
One victim was shot in the ankle and the other in the leg, per the original account relayed through ABC13. Houston police have reviewed surveillance footage from the store and continue investigating the shooting, which authorities say appears to be targeted rather than random. Anyone with information has been asked to contact the Houston Police Department or Crime Stoppers of Houston at 713-222-TIPS.
Crime Stoppers offers up to $5,000 in anonymous cash rewards for tips submitted through that line or its mobile app that lead to felony charges or arrests in violent crime cases, according to Crime Stoppers of Houston. No suspect descriptions beyond the vehicle and occupant count have been released, and it remains unclear whether the attack is connected to any specific dispute.
A Stretch of Northborough Drive With a Troubled Past
Friday's shooting is only the latest in a string of violent incidents clustered along a short stretch of Northborough Drive near Greenspoint. In July 2026, federal marshals and state police arrested a suspect in New Orleans who was charged alongside a teenager in the fatal May 2025 shooting of a 16-year-old boy in a convenience store parking lot at 13360 Northborough Drive, according to the City of Houston newsroom.
The corridor's history runs deeper still. In April 2025, a 7-year-old boy was grazed by a stray bullet inside his apartment living room after gunshots broke out near a complex at 13350 Northborough Drive, Fox 26 Houston reported. And in July 2022, a drive-by shooting in the same 13300 block near Rushcreek Drive killed a 5-year-old girl and wounded her 8-year-old brother, prompting an FBI-assisted investigation and a $130,000 reward, according to the Houston Police Department. In August 2026, a 19-year-old passenger was critically injured when gunfire struck a pickup truck near Glenborough Drive and Northborough Drive close to Interstate 45, per the same Fox 26 Houston account.
Greenspoint's Broader Pattern of Scrutinized Violence
The Greenspoint district near Interstate 45 and Beltway 8 has long faced elevated violent crime rates and high-profile cases, including the unsolved 1991 abduction and murder of off-duty Harris County Sheriff's Deputy Roxyann Allee, as Hoodline has previously reported. Just last month, Hoodline also detailed how a separate Greenspoint shooting claim unraveled when a blood trail led officers to an apartment containing ammunition and narcotics rather than confirming a drive-by, underscoring how closely investigators now scrutinize such claims in the area.
Under Texas Penal Code § 22.02, discharging a firearm from a motor vehicle toward a person, vehicle, or building and causing bodily injury is classified as aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a charge carrying penalties ranging from 2 to 20 years or up to life in prison, according to FindLaw. No arrests have been announced in Friday's shooting, and investigators have not released details on the identities of the shooters, the sedan's ownership, or any connection to broader disputes in north Houston.
