What Investigators Have Not Said
The cause of Friday's shooting is unknown, and police have not identified any additional people who may have been injured. Anyone with information is asked to call the Philadelphia Police Department's tip line at 215-686-TIPS (8477).
Not an Isolated Incident in the Area
Friday's shooting adds to a string of gun violence reported in North Philadelphia in recent months. A 20-year-old man was shot Saturday night along the 2100 block of North 18th Street in the city's 22nd District, according to FOX 29, and was taken by private vehicle to Temple University Hospital in stable condition. Investigators in that case also had not said what led up to the shooting.
In another case near the intersection of 20th Street and Susquehanna Avenue, police said a man was shot at about 9:14 a.m. and was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital at about 9:31 a.m., NBC10 Philadelphia previously reported. The proximity of these incidents underscores the ongoing violence investigators in the area continue to confront, even as the specific circumstances behind Friday's shooting remain unresolved.
