Two adult men were shot Thursday night on Franklin Street in Little Rock and rushed to a hospital with injuries that deputies described as non-life-threatening. Pulaski County Sheriff's Office officials said deputies responded to a report of gunfire and found both victims suffering from apparent gunshot wounds at the scene.
According to THV11, the shooting happened on the evening of Thursday, October 15, on Franklin Street. The Pulaski County Sheriff's Office confirmed it is investigating the incident, though officials said there was no additional information available at the time. As KARK reported, deputies were dispatched at 7:55 p.m. to reports of a shooting in the 400 block of Franklin Street in the College Station area, while a separate account from the same evening placed the call in the 4000 block of Franklin Street, according to NWA Online.
Arriving deputies found two men with gunshot wounds, per the sheriff's office account. Both were adults, and both were taken to a local hospital, where their injuries were found to be non-life-threatening. The case has since been turned over to the sheriff's Criminal Investigation Division, with officials saying more information would be released as it becomes available.
No Suspects Named as Investigation Continues
The investigation remained ongoing as of Thursday night, and no suspects have been identified in connection with the shooting, the same account notes. Authorities have not released details on what led up to the gunfire or how the two men came to be shot on Franklin Street.
This is not the only recent Pulaski County shooting to leave two people wounded. In a separate incident, deputies responded around 9 p.m. on a Saturday night to the 400 block of Mimosa Drive, where they again found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds and transported both to a hospital for treatment, according to KARK. That investigation also remained open, with no further details released.
Little Rock's Homicide Numbers Buck the National Trend
The Franklin Street shooting adds to a tense backdrop for Little Rock, where homicide figures moved in the opposite direction of most of the country last year. Arkansas Times reported that Little Rock was one of only three of 40 cities examined in a study where homicide rates rose from 2024 to 2025, climbing 16 percent — the largest increase of any city in the analysis. That stood in sharp contrast to the broader trend, as homicides fell 21 percent in 2025 compared with 2024 across the 35 study cities that provided that data.
Little Rock recorded 21 murders in 2025, down from 41 in 2021 but still enough to make the city an outlier amid otherwise improving numbers, the outlet reported. Reported levels of 11 of the 13 offenses covered in the study were lower in 2025 than the year before, though drug crimes rose 7 percent. Little Rock's own crime statistics are updated weekly following the Little Rock Police Department's COMPSTAT meeting, and the figures feed into the state's incident-based reporting system under the Arkansas Uniform Crime Reporting Program, according to the Arkansas Department of Public Safety.
For now, the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office has not released any further updates on the Franklin Street shooting, and the identities of the two wounded men have not been made public. Anyone with information is expected to be directed toward investigators as the Criminal Investigation Division continues its work.
