Two 19-year-old Stoughton residents were arrested Wednesday morning after investigators say they had a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old child, according to the Stoughton Police Department. Christopher Zichovich and Yuliette Sanabria Aponte each face charges of repeated sexual assault of a child, causing a child to view sex activity, and exposing a child to harmful material.
The case began far from Stoughton. According to WMTV 15 NEWS, Stoughton police detectives were contacted by the Wauwatosa Police Department with information about a relationship between a 14-year-old and the two 19-year-old suspects. The tip brought the case from Wauwatosa to Stoughton, where local detectives investigated.
Search Warrants and an Ongoing Investigation
Once the tip reached Stoughton, detectives conducted an investigation that included search warrants executed at the suspects' homes, the station's report states. Both Zichovich and Sanabria Aponte were taken into custody Wednesday morning, and the case remains under investigation, with no further details yet released about what evidence investigators are reviewing.
A Dane County Sheriff's Office resident record lists Sanabria Aponte, according to the Dane County Sheriff's Office. Sanabria Aponte took part in a 2025 theater production, according to reporting from The Norse Star, the school's student publication.
What the Charges Could Mean Behind Bars
What the Charges Could Mean Behind Bars The most serious charge each defendant faces is repeated sexual assault of a child. A Class B felony can carry a maximum penalty of 60 years in state prison, according to Grieve Law. Repeated sexual assault of a child is addressed under Wisconsin Statute § 948.025. The Wisconsin Court System has published case law concerning the offense.
If either defendant is convicted on the top count, Wisconsin's Truth-in-Sentencing law, in place since 2000, would require any prison term to be served as a bifurcated sentence of mandatory initial confinement followed by extended supervision, with no opportunity for early parole, according to Stangl Law Offices.
A Separate Case in Wisconsin
A Separate Case in Wisconsin In September, Marquette County Sheriff's deputies arrested a man wanted on a felony warrant for repeated child sexual assault following an armed standoff in Montello, Hoodline previously reported.
No additional details have been released about the alleged victim or the full scope of the investigation. Zichovich and Sanabria Aponte were arrested, and the Stoughton Police Department has not indicated when formal charges will be filed with the Dane County District Attorney's Office.
