A Pattern Playing Out Across the Metro

In Aurora, police say they are tracking five suspects tied to a far larger pattern: more than $60,000 in stolen merchandise and 139 known criminal incidents at Aurora businesses, according to CBS Colorado.

Aurora investigators identified those suspects as Christina Lynn Zamarron, Christina Diane Rico, Demonte Rodgers-Jenkins, Christopher Mondragon and Manuel Castanuela, the station reported. Zamarron alone is suspected in 48 shoplifting incidents dating back to October 2022 totaling $16,242 in merchandise, while Rico is suspected in 35 incidents since June 2024 worth $7,556, per the same report. Aurora police separately said Rodgers-Jenkins was suspected in 16 incidents dating to December 2025 involving $23,401 in merchandise, according to the Sentinel Colorado.

Colorado's Broader Shoplifting Numbers

An analysis of 2025 FBI data found Colorado had the fifth-highest shoplifting burden in the nation, as reported by the Coloradoan. Colorado logged 26,698 shoplifting reports in 2025, down 1.9% from 2024 but up 20.6% from 2023, the outlet found, with a statewide rate of 447.9 reports per 100,000 covered residents.

Nationally, the same analysis counted 1,069,716 shoplifting reports in 2025, down 4.7% from the year before. The Coloradoan noted its figures rely solely on reports made to the FBI and are not a measure of every shoplifting incident, retail shrinkage, or organized retail theft loss.
