Las Vegas police were called to the 6000 block of Del Rey Avenue just before dawn Thursday for a report described only as an unknown trouble call. When officers got inside an apartment at the complex, they found a man who was unresponsive, and detectives are now treating the situation as suspicious.
Officers responded around 5:24 a.m. after receiving the call, according to KTNV. Inside the apartment, they discovered the unresponsive man, the station reported.
Detectives Flag the Case as Suspicious
Police have not released the man's identity, age, or condition, and it has not been confirmed whether he died. What is known is narrow: detectives are considering the situation to be suspicious, per the same report. No cause has been given for what led to the call, and no suspect, weapon, or specific crime has been identified.
A KTNV crew remained at the scene Thursday morning and said it would share more information as it becomes available, the station noted. The exact name of the apartment complex and the specific unit involved have not been disclosed.
Who Investigates Unattended Deaths in Clark County
Cases involving an unresponsive person found in Clark County can eventually draw in the county's coroner and medical examiner, which investigates deaths caused by criminal means, violence, suicide, and any unattended death regardless of cause, according to the Clark County Office of the Coroner/Medical Examiner. It remains unclear whether that office has become involved in this particular case, and no determination about cause or manner has been made public.
For now, the investigation on Del Rey Avenue is in its earliest hours, with police offering few details beyond the initial call and the discovery itself. Hoodline will update this story as more information is released.
