A 38-year-old Oklahoma man died late Friday night after his motorcycle crossed the center line on Arkansas 12 and slammed into a guardrail near Prairie Creek in Benton County. Spencer Park, of Wagoner, Oklahoma, was ejected from the bike and pronounced dead at the scene, according to the crash report.
Arkansas State Police said Park was riding a 2020 Harley-Davidson motorcycle east on AR-12 near Heritage Bay Road at about 11:42 p.m. Friday when he drove left of center, struck the guardrail and was thrown from the motorcycle, as reported by 5NEWS. No other injuries were reported, and the crash did not involve any other vehicles.
The Benton County coroner was holding Park's body following the crash, per the report cited by 5NEWS. KNWA FOX24 also covered the fatal wreck in its Northwest Arkansas news coverage, noting the crash remains under investigation.
Preliminary Findings Still Being Reviewed
Arkansas State Police have described the details released so far as preliminary, according to Arkansas Online. That means the full account of what led Park's motorcycle to cross the center line has not yet been finalized by investigators.
The same report noted a second fatal single-vehicle crash elsewhere in the state around the same timeframe: Kenyata Roby, 49, of Memphis, was killed in a crash on U.S. 49 in Fargo in Monroe County. The two crashes were unrelated but were both logged in the state's recent run of fatal wrecks, per the same account.
No further details about the circumstances behind Park's crash, including what caused him to lose control, have been released. Investigators have not indicated whether any citations or additional findings will follow as the review continues.
