A dedicated fried chicken counter has joined the Walden Galleria food court, giving mall shoppers in Cheektowaga another option. Chick’n Time serves hand-breaded tenders, wings, sandwiches and combo boxes to mallgoers looking for something other than the usual food-court rotation.
The new stall serves hand-breaded fried chicken alongside sandwiches, wings, burritos and customizable sides, according to the restaurant’s own listing on Walden Galleria’s website. The menu description promises diners can “feast on hand-breaded crispy tenders, wings, sandwiches, and combo boxes tossed in signature sauces,” plus customizable hot and cold bars for sides, burrito wraps, fresh salads and smoothies.
A Spot Years in the Making for Mall Shoppers
Chick’n Time was among the additions planned for Walden Galleria. Back in late summer, reporting from WIVB noted Chick’n Time was planning to open in the fall next to Charley’s Philly Steaks. That same report described the restaurant as the only dedicated fried chicken concept at the mall’s food court.
The restaurant’s signature sauces include sweet chili, honey lemon pepper and garlic parmesan, per the station’s earlier report on the planned opening.
Part of a Bigger Food Court Shake-Up
Chick’n Time isn’t the only new name showing up at Walden Galleria this season. The mall is adding three new storefronts this fall and winter, including two food court additions, according to the same WIVB report. One of those is Ruby Thai Kitchen, which was scheduled to open in September in the space that previously housed Subway — a move also noted by Audacy, which described Ruby Thai Chicken moving into the former Subway spot at the food court.
A third tenant, DTLR, is also headed to the mall. WIVB reported DTLR will take over a 5,000-square-foot space on the mall’s lower level, previously occupied by Foot Locker, with an early-2027 opening window also cited by the Buffalo Business Journal.
For now, the fried chicken counter is the one fully up and running, giving Cheektowaga shoppers a new option to grab between stores. Ruby Thai Kitchen has opened, while DTLR is slated for an early-2027 opening.
