Pittsburgh starts Saturday with clear skies and temperatures around 50 degrees, but a warm, partly sunny afternoon is on the way. Highs should reach about 74 degrees before the weather takes a much wetter and windier turn overnight.
Saturday Stays Warm Before The Weather Turns
East winds will increase from roughly 3 to 12 mph as clouds build through the afternoon. Rain showers are expected to move in after 11 p.m., with a low near 57 and between a quarter-inch and half-inch of rain possible.
The higher terrain south and east of Pittsburgh faces the roughest wind conditions. The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh says gusts of 40 to 50 mph are possible across the Laurel Highlands, where a Wind Advisory is in effect from Saturday evening into Sunday afternoon, raising the risk of isolated outages and falling tree limbs.
Sunday Brings Showers And Thunderstorms
Sunday looks gray, wet and considerably cooler, with showers and thunderstorms likely throughout the day and a high near 66 degrees. Rainfall could total another half-inch to three-quarters of an inch, while wind gusts may reach 25 mph; the highest potential for moderate-to-heavy rainfall rates is from 3 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, while lightning is most likely from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
Showers may linger into Sunday night, with a low around 60, before conditions gradually settle Monday. Columbus Day should bring mostly cloudy skies and a high near 73, while Tuesday turns warmer again at around 77 degrees but carries another chance of showers and thunderstorms.
