A 36-year-old Warwick woman is facing charges after she allegedly threw rocks or similar projectiles at another driver's vehicle during a road-rage confrontation on I-95 south in East Greenwich. Rhode Island State Police say an arrest warrant has been issued for Angelia Leavitt in connection with the incident, which troopers say was reported back in April.
What Happened on I-95 South
According to WJAR, Rhode Island State Police said a woman was arrested after allegedly throwing rocks at another vehicle in a road-rage incident. State police said the victim identified the accused woman as Leavitt, who is 36 years old. State police said the incident itself was reported in April, though the exact date of the confrontation has not been made public.
Authorities allege Leavitt threw rocks or similar projectiles at the victim's vehicle while both cars were traveling on I-95 south in East Greenwich, a stretch of highway that sees heavy commuter traffic between Providence and points south.
Charges and Warrant
Officials said an arrest warrant was issued for Leavitt following the investigation into the incident. She now faces charges of throwing articles at a moving vehicle and vandalism, per the same account. Rhode Island law separately defines the offense of throwing articles at moving vehicles under Rhode Island General Laws § 11-44-22.
The circumstances that led to the alleged road-rage confrontation have not been disclosed by investigators.
Not an Isolated Tactic on Highways
Rock-throwing incidents aimed at moving vehicles have surfaced elsewhere in recent memory, underscoring how dangerous the act can be for drivers at highway speeds. In Ontario, a St. Catharines man who was charged in 2025 for throwing rocks at vehicles on Niagara-area highways was accused of doing the same thing again, according to The Record.
