The City of Washington Police Department is asking the public for help identifying a person who may have information relevant to an ongoing fraud investigation. Police shared a photo of the individual Monday afternoon, hoping someone in the community can put a name to the face.
According to WPXI, the person pictured may have information relevant to the fraud case, though police have not said how the individual is connected to the investigation. The department asked residents to help identify the person while specifically requesting that no one share the person's personal information publicly.
How to Submit a Tip
Anyone who recognizes the person in the photo can contact Detective Brady Stallings directly, either by email at [email protected] or by phone at 724-223-4225, per the same report. Those who prefer to stay anonymous can instead reach the department's tip line at 724-223-4108 or by emailing [email protected].
Beyond the photo and the request for identification, police have not released additional details about the nature of the fraud case, including when it began or who may have been affected. The department's ask to the public was limited to identifying the person shown and routing any information through the proper channels rather than social media.
A Separate Fraud Case in the Area
Washington County has seen fraud cases make headlines before. In a separate matter, police filed multiple charges against James Powell of Valley Grove, West Virginia, alleging he fraudulently issued delivery invoices to three different stores without actually delivering product, according to WTAE. That case, which centered on alleged fake Little Debbie delivery paperwork sent to Shop 'n Save, Giant Eagle and Walmart locations with forged employee signatures, led prosecutors to seek $17,167.97 in restitution. There is no indication that the Powell case is connected to the person police are now trying to identify, and nothing in the available reporting ties the two investigations together.
For now, the identification effort remains the immediate focus for investigators. Police have not said whether the person pictured is considered a suspect or simply someone who might hold useful information for the case.
