Detroit gets a brief taste of summer Monday, with morning fog giving way to a partly sunny afternoon and a high near 78 degrees. The break is short-lived: showers and a few thunderstorms could roll through late Monday night, followed by another warm, breezy day Tuesday before a distinctly cooler pattern settles in.
Cloudy skies and patchy fog are holding over the city Monday morning, with temperatures climbing from the mid-50s into the 60s as the commute gets underway. Fog should thin by about 11 a.m., while southwest winds build to 5 to 10 mph and afternoon temperatures climb through the 70s.
Warm Monday, Storm Chance Overnight
Monday night stays mild, with a low near 65 and a 40% chance of rain. The best window for showers and an isolated thunderstorm is from roughly 11 p.m. Monday through early Tuesday, with wind gusts up to 18 mph possible.
Tuesday then turns sunny and even warmer, reaching about 83 degrees. Southwest winds of 10 to 16 mph could gust near 30 mph, so outdoor plans should be comfortable but not especially calm.
Rain And Cooler Air Take Over Midweek
Another chance of rain arrives Tuesday night into Wednesday, with a slight chance of thunderstorms and a Wednesday high near 70. Thursday stays mostly cloudy with a chance of rain, then rain becomes likely Thursday night as temperatures drop into the lower 50s.
Friday brings a final chance of light rain and a high near 62 before colder air arrives. By Saturday morning, Detroit could dip to around 37 degrees, while Saturday afternoon looks sunny but cool with a high near 53; Sunday rebounds to about 59 under sunny skies.
The National Weather Service Detroit/Pontiac office has no watches, warnings or advisories posted for the city in the current forecast. The updated outlook is a notable shift from Hoodline’s earlier forecast, with Tuesday now looking warmer and the late-week cooldown more pronounced.
