A 19-year-old woman walked into a West Philadelphia hospital early Wednesday after being shot in the shoulder at a house party, according to police. She arrived at the medical facility in a private vehicle rather than by ambulance, and investigators say she was hospitalized in stable condition.
Police told NBC10 Philadelphia that officers responded to the medical facility near Cedar Avenue and South 53rd Street at about 2:36 a.m. Wednesday after the woman showed up with a gunshot wound. She told officers she had been attending a house party earlier that evening when an unknown individual at the gathering shot her.
Key Details Still Missing
Investigators have not disclosed where the house party took place, according to the report. No arrests have been made, and police said they had not immediately determined a motive for the shooting as the investigation continues.
The case echoes a pattern seen in other recent house-party shootings outside Philadelphia. In Arlington County, Virginia, five people were hurt in gunfire at a house party near Columbia Pike, with all five victims at local hospitals and two using their own transportation, per a report from WUSA9. A house party in Bridgeton, New Jersey, turned deadly when gunfire broke out and killed two people, with one arrest made, according to FOX 29 Philadelphia.
Investigation Ongoing
For now, the central questions in the West Philadelphia case remain unanswered. Police have not named a suspect, confirmed the party's address, or offered a motive, and the shooting remains under investigation.
