Rodeo riders, pig races and a barbecue cookoff have taken over the Williamson County Expo Center in Taylor this week, as the Williamson County Fair & Rodeo runs through Saturday. The event showcases local agriculture and youth participants from across Williamson County, offering rodeo action, live entertainment, livestock exhibits and family-friendly attractions for four straight nights.
The fair takes place at the Williamson County Expo Center in Taylor, Texas, according to KXAN Austin. Fair board member Jeff Maxwell said the fair has many activities and is family-friendly, per the station's report. Attendees can watch livestock shows and rodeo competitions, enjoy carnival attractions and vendor booths, and take in live entertainment throughout the multi-day event.
A Tradition That Keeps Growing
Fair board member Hollis Bone said the event aims to bring the community together and highlight a way of life important to Williamson County amid rapid growth, the same account notes. Bone also said the fair grows every year and adds something each year. That growth mirrors the broader county, which is described as the eighth-fastest-growing county in Texas, according to Williamson County government figures.
As longtime residents watch new neighborhoods spring up across the county, organizers are framing the fair as a chance for both longtime residents and newcomers to connect with local traditions rooted in the region's agricultural heritage, as reported by Williamson Reporter. That outlet reports the fair runs Oct. 21-24 at 5350 Bill Pickett Trail, with four days of carnival attractions, livestock-themed entertainment, live music and rodeo competition.
What's On Site This Week
Beyond the rodeo arena, the fair will feature a carnival, pig races, a petting zoo, a car show and a barbecue cookoff, along with the four nights of rodeo action, per the Williamson Reporter. Live music is also scheduled throughout the run of the event. The fair is presented by the Nyle Maxwell Family of Dealerships, according to the same report.
Fair organizers provide schedules, entertainment lineups and ticket information on the fair's website for anyone planning a visit before the event wraps up Saturday. The Williamson County government calendar also lists the fair as running Oct. 21-24 at the Williamson County Expo Center.
