Filled With Love Café, the European-inspired market and coffee shop on Maple Road in Williamsville, will close its doors on October 31. Owner Karina Krantz built the business around the European foods she grew up with, and the closing comes more than a year after the café expanded into its current home.

The closing date and the location were reported by Step Out Buffalo, which noted that any Filled With Love Café gift certificates must be used by the October 31 closing date. Krantz thanked her regular customers and staff in a goodbye post, according to the same report, and said she plans to do something fun with the café's page going forward.

From a Pendleton Market Stand to a Full Café

Filled With Love began as a small international market in Pendleton before Krantz moved the business to Williamsville in 2025 and added a full café alongside the retail shop. The Williamsville location sits at 962 Maple Rd., a spot that, per an earlier Step Out Buffalo report on the move, offered the “taste of the abroad life” craved by shoppers looking for something beyond the usual grocery aisle. WKBW described the expanded space as half specialty grocery market and half cozy café, blending European charm with modern American convenience.

WKBW's report also noted that what started as a small market in Pendleton just a year earlier had grown into a full-scale destination for cultural cuisine, local goods and community connection. Krantz grew up in Ukraine and moved to Buffalo with her family as refugees in the 1990s, a background that shaped the market's European and international offerings from the start.

Creative Drinks and a Mission to Give Back

The café built a following on its menu of creative drinks, seasonal beverages and sourdough toasts, Step Out Buffalo reported. Earlier coverage of the café's debut described espresso drinks, smoothies and international teas on the beverage menu, rounding out a shop that leaned heavily on European, organic and locally sourced products, according to the Amherst Chamber of Commerce.

Beyond the food and drink, Filled With Love let customers support the International Institute of Buffalo through order round-ups at checkout, tying a daily coffee run to the same refugee-resettlement mission that shaped Krantz's own family story.

Part of a Rough Year for Western New York Restaurants

The closing lands amid a difficult stretch for the region's food and beverage scene. Buffalo Business First reported that dozens of Western New York restaurants closed between January 1 and August 31, 2026, with operators pointing to reasons ranging from rent hikes to labor shortages to rising costs. The Buffalo News separately tallied 12 Buffalo-area restaurant closures in 2026, and Strong Hearts Cafe, a vegan spot, announced in June that it would hold its last day of business on July 11, with owners citing rising costs, according to WGRZ.

No reason for Filled With Love's closing has been confirmed, and it remains unclear whether the market portion of the business will close alongside the café or whether Krantz plans any future ventures. For now, customers have until October 31 to use any outstanding gift certificates before the Maple Road storefront shuts its doors for good.
