Jacksonville’s Monday forecast called for mostly sunny skies, with a high near 72. North winds will stay strong through the afternoon, making the cooler-than-normal air feel even sharper along the coast and the St. Johns River.
The National Weather Service in Jacksonville expects mostly sunny conditions, with north winds and stronger gusts near the coast. Rain chances are near zero for the city, although coastal clouds may hang around longer before clearing.
Sunny, Cooler Days Take Over
Monday night should be mostly clear, with temperatures dipping to about 56 degrees and winds easing to 8 to 14 mph. Tuesday will be sunny with a high near 74, followed by another sunny day Wednesday near 76 and a mostly clear Thursday around 75.
Overnight lows will remain seasonably cool, generally in the upper 50s. The dry stretch offers a quieter window for outdoor plans away from the shoreline, though breezy conditions will continue near beaches and waterways.
Beaches Remain Dangerous Through Midweek
A High Surf Advisory remains in effect through 2 a.m. EDT Tuesday, October 20, for coastal Nassau and Duval counties, with breaking waves around 7 to 11 feet. The high risk for rip currents continues through late Wednesday night, creating dangerous swimming and surfing conditions even when the sky is bright.
Inexperienced swimmers should stay out of the water, and anyone entering the surf should remain near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, float instead of fighting it, then move parallel to the shoreline when possible; rough surf may also cause localized beach erosion.
St. Johns River Flooding Could Linger
Persistent northeast winds may continue to push water into portions of the St. Johns River basin and nearby tidal areas during high tide. Minor tidal flooding is possible through at least Tuesday and could continue later in the week, according to the latest local forecast discussion.
The update follows Sunday’s Hoodline forecast, with breakers around 7 to 11 feet continuing through at least Monday night and coastal hazards still very much in the picture.
Weekend Brings Showers And Stronger Coastal Winds
Friday should stay sunny with a high near 76, but a slight chance of showers arrives Friday night. Saturday brings a 10%–15% chance of rain showers, followed by a 15% chance Sunday, while northeast winds strengthen to roughly 18 to 25 mph Saturday and 21 to 25 mph Sunday.
For Jacksonville residents, the week starts with dry, bright weather after Monday’s clouds clear, but beachgoers and boaters should continue treating the coast as a hazardous zone through midweek. The weekend forecast could make waterfront plans a wet and windy proposition.
