Norfolk is starting Monday with partly cloudy skies and temperatures near 57 degrees, but the calmer-looking morning will give way to a blustery afternoon. Mostly sunny skies should push the high to about 66 degrees, with north winds between 16 and 21 mph and gusts reaching 32 mph.

Coastal Flooding Arrives Monday Afternoon

A Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect from 2 p.m. Monday through 6 a.m. Tuesday for Norfolk, Portsmouth, Chesapeake and Suffolk. The National Weather Service expects shallow flooding in vulnerable areas near shorelines and tidal waterways, with water possibly reaching about a foot above ground in the most exposed spots.

Low-lying roads, waterfront parking lots, parks and lawns could see nuisance flooding during the advisory period. Drivers should allow extra time, avoid barricades and never drive through water of unknown depth.

Sunny, Windy Conditions Continue Through Wednesday

Tuesday will be sunny with a high near 68 degrees, though north winds will again run 17 to 21 mph with gusts up to 32 mph. Tuesday night stays partly cloudy with a low around 56, followed by a mostly sunny Wednesday topping out near 64 degrees.

Calmer And Seasonable Late Week

The rest of the week looks mainly dry, with sunny or mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid-60s Thursday through Saturday. Sunday could reach 68 degrees, while overnight lows generally settle in the low to mid-50s as winds ease later in the week, according to the NWS forecast.
