Hanover is getting its first taste of Wingstop. The Texas-born chicken wing chain plans to open a restaurant in Suite 1290 of the Clearview Shopping Center at 1000 Carlisle Street, filling a 2,000-square-foot middle-of-the-row unit between Hanover Floor & Stone and a currently vacant storefront.
The move was first reported by The Evening Sun, which found Wingstop listed as the upcoming tenant for Suite 1290 in a property brochure from Bennett-Williams Commercial Realty. The firm, founded in 1956 in York, Pennsylvania, represents more than 50 national retailers in commercial real estate deals across Central Pennsylvania, according to Bennett Williams Commercial. Wingstop has also posted an online job listing for a general manager at the new restaurant, identifying 1000 Carlisle Street as the address and describing it as a new restaurant opening, per the paper's reporting.
Clearview Shopping Center itself is a sizable stretch of retail along Route 94, also known as Carlisle Street, spanning 167,392 square feet and seeing roughly 22,000 vehicles pass by daily, according to a Coldwell Banker listing. The center's existing tenant roster includes Dollar General, WellSpan, AAA, Buddy's Home Furnishings, Naptime Discount Mattress, Citi Financial and Infinitos, a mix that already generates steady foot traffic for whatever newcomer sets up shop nearby.
A Trade Area Built for National Chains
The numbers behind Clearview help explain why a growing national brand would target the location. Within a 20-minute drive of the shopping center live more than 182,000 residents with an average household income above $76,000, alongside a daytime workforce of 77,146 people, per data compiled by LoopNet. Hanover's position near the Maryland state line means that trade area pulls in shoppers from both southern York County and northern Maryland.
Carlisle Street functions as Hanover's primary commercial corridor, and Clearview sits within a broader retail ecosystem that includes Gateway Hanover, home to Target and Sam's Club, and North Point Plaza, which draws more than 42,000 vehicles daily at its main intersection, according to Bennett Williams Commercial. That puts the new Wingstop in direct competition with an already crowded field of national fast-food chains operating along the same strip.
Wingstop's Rapid Expansion Across Pennsylvania
The Hanover store will mark Wingstop's third location in York County, joining existing restaurants on Loucks Road in York City and East Market Street in East York. Wingstop now operates more than 60 locations across Pennsylvania as of September, part of a broader regional push detailed in a ScrapeHero report tracking the chain's store counts.
Founded in 1994 by Antonio Swad and Bernadette Fiaschetti, Wingstop built its menu around boneless and bone-in buffalo chicken wings served with sauces ranging from mild Hawaiian to Atomic hot, alongside chicken tenders, a chicken sandwich, Cajun fried corn on the cob, cheese fries, and specialty options like Louisiana Voodoo fries and Buffalo Ranch fries. QSR Magazine named it the fastest-growing restaurant franchise in the country in 2025, a year in which the chain opened 382 new U.S. locations and grew its worldwide footprint to 3,056 restaurants.
Growth Continues Even as Sales Cool
Wingstop's expansion hasn't slowed in 2026. The company opened a record 493 net new locations system-wide in 2025 and another 102 in the second quarter of 2026, part of a long-term goal of reaching 10,000 global restaurants, according to financial results reported by PR Newswire. That growth has come even as domestic same-store sales fell 3.3% in 2025 and 7.5% in the second quarter of 2026, with company executives pointing to macroeconomic headwinds and tighter consumer spending.
Nearly all of that growth runs through franchisees rather than corporate-owned stores. Franchised locations made up 2,671 of Wingstop's 2,728 domestic restaurants as of June 2026, with average domestic unit volume standing at $1.9 million, per a report from Nation's Restaurant News. The chain's digital-first model helps explain how it can thrive in compact spaces like the 2,000-square-foot Hanover unit: digital orders made up 73.2% of system-wide sales in fiscal 2025 and 71.6% in the second quarter of 2026, supported by a 10-month rollout of proprietary Smart Kitchen technology across all domestic stores.
In May 2026, Wingstop also launched Club Wingstop, its first national digital loyalty program, adding points-sharing and group ordering features designed to boost repeat visits, according to Restaurant Dive. Hanover-area customers will be able to tap into that program once the new location opens, though an exact opening date for Suite 1290 has not yet been announced as buildout and hiring move forward.
