Chillicothe wing fans no longer have to leave Ross County to get their lemon pepper fix. Wingstop held the grand opening of its first Ross County restaurant on Monday at 950 North Bridge Street.

Per the Lexington Herald-Leader, the opening day report carried over from the Chillicothe Gazette, the restaurant serves chicken wings, tenders, sandwiches and more. Customers can order boneless or classic wings with sauces including lemon pepper, hickory smoked barbecue, original hot and atomic.

Why the Chain Picked Chillicothe

District manager Mauricio Tostado said the growth in Wingstop's popularity is what prompted the franchise to come to Chillicothe. The same report notes that the nearest Wingstop to Ross County before this opening was in Lancaster.

That Lancaster restaurant, according to Wingstop, offers classic and boneless wings, tenders, and hand-cut, seasoned fries along with other signature sides. Chillicothe's new spot is known for the same fresh wings and seasoned fries.

A Busy Start and an Open Invitation

Tostado said he was glad people were excited to get wings and join a welcoming community. He also extended an invitation to locals, telling them to “come see us.” The restaurant had several customers less than an hour after opening on opening day, the report says.

Wingstop Keeps Growing Across Ohio

The Chillicothe debut is part of a wider push by the chain in the state. The Dayton Business Journal reports that Wingstop is expanding to Piqua with its ninth Miami Valley restaurant. That location will occupy a space formerly used by Subway, with renovation costs estimated around $300,000.

Closer to the capital, Columbus Business First reported in March that Wingstop is opening two new Columbus-area carryouts. For Chillicothe diners, though, the nearest wings just got a lot nearer.
