A new Wawa is set to open its doors in Winslow Township Friday morning at 8 a.m., bringing free coffee, T-shirts and a first-responder tribute to the Camden County community after an opening date that got pushed back from earlier this fall. The store sits at 303 S. White Horse Pike, and the grand-opening celebration kicks off at 7:55 a.m. before the doors officially open.

The timeline hasn't been entirely smooth. Wawa originally announced the Winslow store would debut on Sept. 18, according to a company statement distributed via Wawa, Inc. But that date came and went, and Courier Post later reported the store, once expected to debut on Sept. 18, would instead open on Oct. 23.

Whatever the reason for the shuffled calendar, the freebies on offer Friday mirror what Wawa has rolled out at other new locations this year. The first 100 customers through the door are promised free “Wawa Grand Opening Tour in the USA” T-shirts while supplies last, per the same company statement. Everyone who visits can also grab free hot coffee in any size through Sunday, Oct. 25, a perk confirmed in coverage of a separate Wawa opening by IndyStar.

A Ceremony Honoring First Responders

At 8:30 a.m., following the store's opening, a ceremony will celebrate the new team of employees and recognize local first responders, according to Wawa's statement. General Manager Nicole Massey is set to lead the countdown to the store's opening at 7:55 a.m., the same release notes. The centerpiece of the ceremony is a “Hoagies for Heroes” competition, which will challenge first responders to a hoagie-making contest benefiting local charities.

The new Winslow location will carry Wawa's familiar lineup of made-to-order hoagies, coffee, breakfast sandwiches, specialty beverages, fuel services and convenience items, according to NJ.com. The opening comes as Wawa continues a sprawling expansion push this year; the chain has said it expects to open nearly 100 stores across 14 states in 2026 as part of what it's calling its Grand Opening Tour, timed to the nation's 250th anniversary year.

Part Of A Bigger Expansion Push

The Winslow Township store isn't an outlier — it's one stop on a busy national rollout. Wawa entered Indiana in May 2025 with a store in Daleville and has plans to open more than 70 locations in that state alone, per IndyStar's reporting. In Ohio, the company has said it intends to build and open five to eight stores per year over the next five to eight years, with long-term plans for as many as 60 locations statewide, according to a newsflash from Miami Township, Ohio.

Other 2026 Wawa debuts have followed a similar playbook. A Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania opening in Allen Township in June featured free coffee, an 8:30 a.m. ribbon-cutting and limited-edition T-shirts for the first 100 customers, as reported by WFMZ. A September opening in Miami Township, Ohio, included its own 7:55 a.m. countdown, free shirts and hot coffee, plus a Hoagies for Heroes contest and ribbon cutting, per the township's announcement.

Back in Winslow, the new Super Wawa is expected to effectively replace a smaller, older store nearby that doesn't offer gasoline, according to a report from 42 Freeway. For now, Friday's opening marks the end of a delayed rollout for Camden County shoppers eager for free coffee — and a fresh hoagie counter — just in time for the weekend.
