A Yemeni restaurant called Mandi House is lined up to move into the Roseville space long occupied by Flame & Fire Brazilian Steakhouse, bringing dishes like mandi and haneeth to the city. The shift would mark the end of an era for a steakhouse that had served the same Suite 100 storefront for more than a decade.
According to The Sacramento Business Journal, Mandi House is filling the former Flame & Fire space in Roseville. Mandi House describes itself as a Yemeni restaurant dedicated to preserving and sharing authentic Yemeni cuisine, according to an interview the restaurant's team gave to VoyageLA.
Mandi House’s California growth is tied to founder Faris Alqabass, who opened the Westwood restaurant in March 2024. In a profile, Alqabass said he wanted to introduce Yemeni food to a Los Angeles neighborhood where it was difficult to find, despite the city’s abundance of other Middle Eastern options. The restaurant has served as a gathering place for local families and UCLA students, giving the planned Roseville location a community-facing role as well as a new cuisine to bring to the area.
The restaurant's menu leans on dishes central to Yemeni cooking, including haneeth, mandi lamb, mandi chicken and grilled lamb, per the ordering page on Mandi House's own website. The Daily Bruin describes Mandi House’s menu as featuring shared dishes and reflecting Yemeni cultural traditions.
The menu’s range extends beyond the rice-and-meat dishes described above. Mandi House also lists Yemeni stews such as seltah and fahsah, along with breakfast dishes including foul and shakshookah. That breadth is reflected in the restaurant’s online menu, which groups its offerings into stews, starters, salads, seafood and shareable plates. The mix could give Roseville diners a wider introduction to Yemeni cooking than the mandi and haneeth named in the restaurant’s headline offerings.
A Steakhouse's Uncertain Exit
Flame & Fire's departure has been building for months. What Now Sacramento reported that the steakhouse temporarily closed its doors at 963 Pleasant Grove Blvd., Suite 100, for remodeling, and that no reopening timeline had been announced at the time. That outlet also reported that the restaurant had operated out of the same Suite 100 space for more than a decade, dating back to an original 2014 opening in Roseville.
There's a wrinkle in how the two reports line up. The Business Journal frames Mandi House as replacing Flame & Fire outright, while the earlier What Now Sacramento report described the closure as temporary with no stated return date. That same report also noted that the steakhouse's previous ownership said that, as of December 2025, it was no longer affiliated with the restaurant — a detail that adds to the uncertainty around exactly who has controlled the business and the space in recent months.
Where Mandi House Would Land
Mandi House would occupy the former Flame & Fire storefront in Roseville.
Mandi House has plans to expand to San Francisco, per the VoyageLA interview.
For now, Mandi House is lined up for the former steakhouse's space, and the Business Journal says Flame & Fire appears not to reopen.
