A Yolo County jury found David Manuel Sanchez Gallardo not guilty of second-degree murder and voluntary manslaughter in the December 2023 shooting death of Isaias Jaime. The verdict came Tuesday morning after a two-week retrial and about a day of deliberations, the Davis Enterprise reported.
The case had previously gone to a jury in 2025, but that trial ended without a verdict after jurors deadlocked, according to the Enterprise.
The shooting
Police said Gallardo and Jaime knew each other; the CBS report said they argued before Gallardo shot Jaime.
Gallardo drove to the scene and struck Jaime with his vehicle, according to CBS Sacramento.
Police said Gallardo and Jaime knew each other. Jaime was identified in court coverage as Gallardo’s girlfriend’s brother-in-law.
Gallardo was 33 at the time of the shooting
A 2023 CBS Sacramento report identified Gallardo as 33 at the time of the shooting and the victim as 36.
