Rainfall and wind advisories remained in place as the Coachella Valley prepared for Sunday's events. A Flood Watch was in effect through the evening after Post-Tropical Cyclone Rachel brought more than an inch of rain to most of the valley, with stations in Indio and Palm Desert recording over two inches. A Wind Advisory covering the area was set to continue into early Monday, according to NBC Palm Springs' weather report.
The sixth annual Yum Food Fest and Night Market took place Sunday at The Shops at Palm Desert. Organizers had tentatively called off the event as storms approached, but went ahead with food trucks, live performances and activities for families, NBC Palm Springs reported.
A Hawaiian addition
The festival's program included a Hawaiian luau, with cultural entertainment, dancing and a roasted pig, according to the station's event report. An organizer told NBC Palm Springs that the festival tries to vary its offerings from year to year and described bringing the luau to Palm Desert rather than asking guests to travel for it.
Organizers are considering how to expand next year's event and add further experiences and entertainment, the station reported.
