Albany is expected to reach about 72 degrees Wednesday under sunny skies, offering a dry window for outdoor plans before rain moves in Thursday. The National Weather Service in Albany forecasts a mild morning near 48, with light south winds of 2 to 8 mph.
Rain arrives Thursday
Light rain is forecast from Thursday morning into the afternoon, with a 90% chance of precipitation and a high near 68. South winds are expected around 12 mph, and most Albany-area locations are forecast to receive less than a tenth of an inch, according to the National Weather Service in Albany.
The forecast calls for about a 50% rain chance Thursday night, with clouds, occasional showers and temperatures near 56, according to the University at Albany Department of Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences.
A wetter year-to-date backdrop
This week’s rain forecast comes against a broader precipitation backdrop: Drought.gov reports that Albany County had its wettest January-through-September in 132 years in 2026. That longer-term measure does not show how much rain this week will bring to any particular location or what effect it will have.
Showers possible into the weekend
Friday is forecast to be cloudy, with patchy fog, a 30% chance of light rain and a high near 67. Rain chances increase again Friday night and Saturday; Saturday could bring more showers and a high around 60, according to the University at Albany forecast.
Partly sunny skies and a high near 54 are expected Sunday. The outlook then turns generally drier, with a low near 36 Sunday night and highs around 54 Monday and 58 Tuesday; a slight rain chance remains Monday, the University at Albany forecast says.
