Albany is waking to cloudy skies and temperatures near 63 degrees Thursday morning, but the mild start comes with a soggy catch: rain showers are expected from about 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Capital Region should reach near 69 degrees, with southerly flow and gusts of 20 to possibly 30 mph.
Rain Eases After The Morning Commute
According to the National Weather Service in Albany, the chance of rain is 90% Thursday, with most of the region expected to receive a tenth to a quarter inch through Thursday evening and higher totals in the southern Adirondacks. Showers should taper after midday, though a few additional showers or sprinkles cannot be ruled out later, and breaks in the clouds are possible.
Thursday night remains mild, with a low around 55 and a 40% chance of additional showers before 1 a.m. Patchy fog could develop overnight, while Friday brings mostly cloudy skies, a high near 67 and only a slight chance of showers during the early afternoon.
Weekend Looks Wetter And Cooler
Saturday's forecast calls for widespread showers, especially in the afternoon and at night, with a high near 59 and a 40% chance of rain after 1 p.m. Showers could continue Saturday night as temperatures fall to around 42, with some parts of the region facing a chance of more than a half-inch of rain.
That is a sharper turn toward a wet weekend than the earlier outlook described in Hoodline's previous forecast. Sunday should bring more showers before 1 p.m., followed by partly sunny skies and a high near 57.
Brighter Weather Returns Next Week
Monday looks mostly sunny with possible additional light showers and a high near 54, while Tuesday temperatures could rebound to around 58 degrees. Veterans Day falls on Wednesday, November 11.
No watches or warnings are in effect for Albany. For now, an umbrella Thursday and a flexible weekend plan appear to be the safest bets.
