A domestic battery call in Holiday turned into an hours-long standoff overnight, with an armed man barricaded alone inside a home on Landau Street while deputies worked to talk him out peacefully. The victim managed to escape the residence safely before law enforcement arrived, leaving the man alone inside with a handgun as deputies tried to reach him.
The Pasco Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to the Landau Street area of Holiday after a call came in as a domestic battery around 10:50 p.m., according to tampabay28.com. The office said the victim was able to safely exit the residence before deputies got there, while an adult man remained inside alone, armed with a handgun.
Deputies said they were attempting to make contact with the man in hopes of bringing about a peaceful resolution, per the same report. The sheriff's office characterized the situation as an isolated incident and said an update would be provided when available.
No Word Yet on How the Standoff Ends
As of now, it remains unclear how the situation was resolved, whether the man surrendered, remained inside, or was taken into custody. The sheriff's office had not released further details beyond its initial statement describing the response and the ongoing effort to reach the man peacefully.
The Pasco Sheriff's Office also shared details of the incident on social media early Saturday morning.
Other Barricade Calls in Holiday
This is not the only barricaded-subject call Pasco deputies have handled in the Holiday area. In a separate incident in the Holiday Lakes Estate neighborhood, deputies identified the suspect as 57-year-old Eric Dykstra and said he was holding a gun inside the home, according to WFLA. That station reported Dykstra threatened to use propane tanks to blow up the home, prompting officials to evacuate nearby residents, though no injuries were reported and the standoff was ultimately resolved peacefully.
In another separate case, WFLA reported that a male suspect unlawfully entered a home in the Salisbury Drive area of Holiday around 5:20 p.m. and battered a victim outside the home before barricading himself inside his own residence. That suspect was taken into custody early the following Saturday morning, and the sheriff's office described that incident, too, as isolated with no threat to the public. None of these earlier cases are confirmed to be connected to Saturday's standoff on Landau Street.
