Birmingham police are asking the public for help finding 55-year-old Morgan Barton, who disappeared after attending a campaign event downtown on Tuesday evening and hasn't been heard from since. Barton was last seen around 6:30 p.m. on November 3 at 2101 Richard Arrington Jr. Blvd. North, and her phone has reportedly been off ever since.
According to WVTM 13, that address is the same spot where Doug Jones was hosting an election-night watch party, and family and friends say Barton spoke with them while she was there but has made no contact since. Police describe her as 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighing 130 pounds, with green eyes and blonde hair.
As AL.com reports, Barton's disappearance has left loved ones searching for answers after what began as a routine night out at a political gathering turned into days of silence.
Conflicting Details on What She Was Wearing
Accounts of Barton's clothing differ slightly between outlets. WVTM 13 reports she was last seen wearing a lavender shirt, a dark purple or blue skirt, and purple and blue shoes. Separate reporting attributed to AL.com describes her outfit as a lavender shirt, a lavender and pink scarf, a dark purple or blue skirt, and flat shoes. Investigators have not publicly reconciled the two descriptions.
Barton's phone has been off since Tuesday night, according to her daughter, as reported by WSFA 12 News. The same report notes that Barton drives a dark gray Kia with a dog sling or bed in the backseat, a detail police hope will help the public spot the vehicle.
How to Help
Birmingham police are urging anyone with information about Barton's whereabouts to call the department at 205-328-9311. No further details about the circumstances of her disappearance or the scope of the search have been released beyond the request for public assistance.
