The Columbus Blue Jackets have a new look to show off at Nationwide Arena this season. On Monday, the club, the NHL and Fanatics unveiled the team's Hometown Remix uniform, a gray alternate jersey built around cannon imagery and neighborhood details pulled straight from Columbus itself.
The reveal, first detailed by The Columbus Dispatch, is part of a league-wide collaboration between all 32 NHL clubs and Fanatics. According to nhl.com, the design marks the culmination of a two-year development process built around the team and its fan base. The Blue Jackets plan to wear the uniform 13 times during the 2026-27 season, with the first appearance coming Tuesday against the Colorado Avalanche at Nationwide Arena.
Cannon Crest and Short North Flourishes
Visually, the jersey leans into Columbus identity. Per nhl.com, it features a solid gray base designed as a backdrop for a graphic cannon crest, along with an arched sleeve pattern with debossed filigree detailing and an italicized “5th Line” graphic along the hem. The Cannon reports the jersey also includes navy upper-arm panels trimmed in white and the steel blue drawn from the team's existing third jersey.
Those filigree touches aren't just decoration. As The Cannon notes, the embossed star and filigree pattern on the blue field is a nod to the cable-car arches lining the Short North, tying the jersey directly to one of Columbus' most recognizable stretches of Ohio real estate. The outlet also points out that the solo cannon introduced during the Stadium Series takes center stage on the new look, while the old kepi shoulder patch used before 2015 makes a return.
Jersey Pricing and Where to Buy
Fans wanting to wear the new look can already do so. The jerseys and related fan apparel became available Monday at Blue Jackets team stores, the team's online shop and Fanatics-affiliated retail sites, per nhl.com. For custom lettering and numbering, CNBC reports pricing lands at $275 for a premium jersey and $500 for an authentic version.
A League-Wide Rollout Years in the Making
Columbus' reveal is one piece of a much larger rollout. The league's own account describes every Hometown Remix jersey as designed from scratch, giving each of the NHL's 32 clubs an entirely new look built around its city and fan base. Across the league, 261 games will feature a team in its Hometown Remix uniform this season, including 19 matchups where both teams wear the alternate look simultaneously, according to nhl.com.
CNBC reports that Fanatics is singularly responsible and accountable for the design and execution of the program, working in partnership with the NHL and its clubs. The program represents Fanatics' first full 32-team special-edition rollout since it became the league's on-ice uniform partner and authentic outfitter in 2024, the same source notes. SportsLogos.Net News adds that Hometown Remix is the NHL's first league-wide special-edition uniform series since the Reverse Retro set from the 2022-23 season.
For Columbus fans, though, the bigger moment arrives Tuesday night. That's when the Blue Jackets will skate out in the new gray-and-cannon look for the first time, facing the Avalanche in front of the home crowd at Nationwide Arena.
