Boomtown Coffee Roasters is set to open its third Houston cafe on November 7 at 6001 Washington Ave, Unit 100, bringing its house-roasted beans, breakfast tacos and lineup of specialty lattes to the Memorial Park area. The new shop marks the next step for a coffee company that has been a staple in Houston's coffee scene since 2011.
According to Community Impact, the Memorial Park cafe will be led by Nelly Villarreal, who said she hopes to create a safe space for people to gather, work or chat about coffee. Villarreal told the outlet she was excited to help bring Boomtown to Memorial Park, a sentiment that echoes the company's broader pitch to neighborhoods as it grows beyond its original footprint.
Charlie McIntyre, founder and executive director of Different Hospitality, said Memorial Park's diverse community is what drew Boomtown to the area. McIntyre added that the goal with the new location is to revitalize an existing space while serving coffee and offering drinks people enjoy, per the same report.
What's On the Menu
The Memorial Park shop will serve pastries, breakfast tacos and a range of specialty drinks made with house-made syrups, the report notes. Among the named beverages are the Toddy Mocha, made with cold brew coffee, espresso, mocha and whole milk, and the Shakarato, which combines espresso, agave, citrus zest and bitters.
Other drinks on the menu include the Sea Turtle, a latte finished with caramel, chocolate and vanilla, and the Crud, built from cold brew, espresso, chicory, vanilla and cream. The lineup also includes the Specter, a latte sweetened with agave syrup, and the Milk and Honey, sweetened with honey and cinnamon.
A Growing Footprint Tied to a 2026 Merger
This year has brought significant change to Boomtown's business structure. The company joined the Houston hospitality group Different Hospitality and merged with New Heights Coffee Roasters in 2026, Community Impact reported, a shift that set the stage for the chain's expansion into Memorial Park.
That merger follows an acquisition announced earlier this year: Daily Coffee News reported in February that Different Hospitality had acquired Boomtown Coffee, with financial terms of the deal not disclosed. At the time, Boomtown operated two Houston cafes, and the outlet noted the coffee company dated back to 2011. The acquisition was described as designed to preserve Boomtown's brand, leadership and existing presence while giving it operational support and room to grow.
Daily Coffee News also placed the deal in a wider wave of consolidation hitting the specialty coffee business, noting that the six weeks before the acquisition was reported had already seen Dutch Bros's acquisition of Clutch Coffee Bar elsewhere in the country.
From 19th Street to a Downtown Food Hall
Boomtown's path to a third storefront has been a long one. Eater Houston reported back in 2018 that Boomtown was slated to become a vendor at Understory, a food hall then under construction in downtown Houston's Capitol Tower at 800 Capitol Street, serving as the hall's coffee and baked goods purveyor.
At that time, the Understory spot was expected to become Boomtown's third location, alongside existing outposts downtown at 300 Main Street and in the Heights, according to Eater Houston. Houstonia has also chronicled the brand's roots, describing the company's original shop as the 19th Street locale before it later expanded into the Understory food hall downtown. The new Memorial Park cafe now represents the third location for a company that launched in 2011 and has steadily built out its presence across Houston in the years since.
