Borsheims has reopened the doors to its transformed flagship store on Regency Parkway, unveiling 20,000 square feet of renovated showroom space after months of construction at the Omaha jewelry institution. The reveal caps a project that reshaped how customers browse, shop and meet with staff inside one of the city's most recognizable retail names.
According to KETV, the company describes Borsheims as an historic Omaha jewelry store, and the newly opened portion of the building reflects a significant physical overhaul of the Regency Parkway location. Borsheims CEO Karen Goracke told the station the company has served Nebraska for more than 150 years, framing the renovation as part of a long local legacy rather than a one-off facelift.
Goracke also spoke to what the milestone means to her personally. “Omaha is the best community. I am an Omaha native, and I'm so proud to say that there really is no place like Nebraska. And we are lucky to be a part of Nebraska's history,” she said, per the station's report.
Construction Began in May, Store Stayed Open
The renovation's roots trace back to spring, when Borsheims said in a company blog post that construction officially began on May 11. The retailer, which is owned by Berkshire Hathaway according to CoStar, made a point of keeping the Regency Parkway doors open for business throughout the work rather than shutting down for the duration.
Borsheims wrote on its own blog that it would remain open throughout the entire renovation, a detail the company emphasized as construction crews worked around ongoing retail operations. The jeweler also tied the redesign to its roots, noting that thoughtful nods to its heritage as Omaha's leading jeweler since 1870 would be woven throughout the store.
New Luxury Salon and Private Consultation Spaces
Beyond square footage, the renovation brought specific additions aimed at how customers shop for high-end pieces. Borsheims said the redesign included additional seating areas for private consultations along with an updated Luxury Salon, according to a separate announcement on the company's blog.
Trade publication JCK reported that the planned redesign aimed to turn the Omaha flagship into an open-concept environment, with an expanded consultation area and more branded boutiques woven into the new layout. The outlet also noted that Borsheims framed the project as a response to shifts in luxury and engagement-ring shopping habits, suggesting the overhaul was designed with changing customer expectations in mind.
A Milestone for a Longtime Omaha Name
For a retailer whose history in the city stretches back to 1870, the reopening represents more than new carpet and fixtures. Goracke's comments to KETV underscored the company's intent to keep its flagship rooted in Omaha even as the showroom modernizes around it, with Borsheims signaling it will continue serving Nebraska through that same Regency Parkway location.
The project also drew attention from industry press watching how legacy jewelers adapt their physical spaces to current shopping trends. Whatever the exact finish date of every phase, Friday's reopening of the transformed showroom marks a visible new chapter for a store that has anchored Omaha's jewelry scene for over a century and a half.
